Getting a good education is an important step in securing a better future. As part of our commitment in contributing towards social development, PETRONAS offers minor scholarship to secondary school students who show great potential. The selection criteria include academic excellence, personal qualities, involvement in co-curricular activities as well as the socio-economic background of the students.
Students are urged to focus on their studies while at school and acquire the necessary knowledge as the foundation for them to pursue higher education in the later years. At the same time it is also important for students to develop social skills through participation in extra curricular activities in school as well as through community service.
We hope that this effort students will be able to benefit from the opportunities open to them.

PETRONAS
PETRONAS, the acronym for Petroliam Nasional Berhad, was incorporated on 17 August 1974 under the Companies Act 1965. It is wholly owned by the Malaysian government and is vested with the entire ownership and control of the petroleum resources in Malaysia through the Petroleum Development Act 1974, an Act of Parliament.

EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME
Since 1975 PETRONAS has been sponsoring deserving students to enable them to continue their education in high schools in Malaysia as well as at local and foreign universities. To date this programme has helped more than 15,000 Malaysians who have now graduated from reputable universities in Malaysia and abroad.
The main objectives of this programme are to develop the country’s human capital and to nuture young talents to meet PETRONAS’ manpower requirements. Today, many graduates have assumed key positions in PETRONAS and other organizations.
Sponsorship awards take into consideration several key factors, including the academic achievements, personal qualities as well as socio-economic circumstances of the students.
